5–9% is the average revenue increase a local business sees from a single 1-star jump in their average Google or Yelp rating — controlling for every other variable. Replies are part of that rating engine: they shape whether unhappy customers soften, whether happy ones come back, and what every future reader thinks of you. That's why these templates exist. The Three Rules
Behind All Nine Google Response Templates.

Use any words you like — but if a reply breaks one of these three rules, no template can save it.

  • Reply to the next customer, not the reviewer

The reviewer has already decided. The hundreds of people who read the exchange later haven’t. Write every word for them: calm, specific, generous.

  • Never argue facts in public

Even when the review is wrong, a public rebuttal reads as defensive. Acknowledge, state your side in one neutral sentence, and move the details offline.

  • Sound like the day you opened the business

Corporate phrases (‘we apologize for any inconvenience’) signal that nobody read the review. Short sentences, first person, the customer’s actual situation.

REVIEW STRATEGY FAQ

Questions Owners Ask
About Reviews.

Within 24-48 hours — fast enough to show you’re paying attention, slow enough to write calmly. Never reply angry; the draft you write an hour after reading it is rarely the one you should post.

Every negative and mixed one, always. For positives, reply to the detailed ones and at least acknowledge a healthy share of the rest — an active reply feed is itself a ranking and trust signal. Our free Google Business Profile checklist builds this into a 15-minute weekly habit.

Sometimes directly — reviewers do edit stars after a good resolution — but the bigger effect is on the readers. A calm, specific reply under a bad review often does more for the next customer’s trust than another 5-star review would.

Steady asks beat campaigns: build the request into job completion, send the direct review link by text, and make it one tap. If you want the whole visibility picture graded first, the free written audit benchmarks your review velocity against your top three competitors. If you would rather the asking, answering and watching were done for you, that is our review and reputation management service.
